Privacy that's
actually simple.

We built devtools.run so you can work with sensitive data without worrying about where it goes. The answer is: nowhere. It stays in your browser.

📊1. Data We Collect

We collect the bare minimum required to operate this website. The table below lists every category of data and exactly what we do with it.

Data type Collected? Purpose
Content you paste into tools Never Processed locally in your browser only.
Files you upload Never Read locally by the browser. Not transmitted.
IP address Server logs only Standard web server logs, retained for up to 7 days, then deleted.
Browser / device type Aggregate only Anonymous aggregate stats to improve browser compatibility.
Pages visited Aggregate only Anonymous page-view counts to understand which tools are most useful.
Name & email (contact form) Only if you send one Used solely to reply to your message. Never shared.
Account / profile data Never We don't have accounts.
Payment data Never All tools are free. No payments accepted.

⚙️2. How Our Tools Work

Every tool on devtools.run is a static web page — an HTML file with embedded CSS and JavaScript. When you use a tool:

Your browser downloads the page once. After that, all computation happens locally using JavaScript running inside your browser tab. No data leaves your device at any point during tool use. When you close the tab, everything is gone.

This is by design. If you're pasting API keys into a JWT decoder, credentials from a config file into a formatter, or any other sensitive content into any tool — it never touches our infrastructure.

💡 You can verify this yourself. Open your browser's DevTools (F12), go to the Network tab, and watch while you use a tool. You'll see zero outbound requests while you type, paste, or format.

🍪3. Cookies

We use a small number of functional cookies — only to remember your preferences (such as your chosen indentation setting or dark/light mode). These cookies are:

CookieTypePurposeExpires
dt_prefs First-party Stores UI preferences (indent size, theme). 1 year

We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or any third-party cookie services. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any behavioral ad network.

🔗4. Third Parties

We load one external resource: Google Fonts (for typography). When your browser requests a font file, Google's servers see your IP address. You can review Google's privacy policy for details on how they handle this.

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your data with any third party for any purpose. We have no advertising relationships. We do not use any third-party analytics platforms that build individual user profiles.

If this site is ever acquired or transferred, any new operator would be required to uphold the same privacy standards described here, or notify users before doing otherwise.

✉️5. Contact Form Submissions

If you use the contact form to send us a message, we receive your name, email address, and the content of your message. We use this information only to respond to your inquiry.

We do not add you to any mailing list. We do not share your contact details with third parties. Messages may be retained for up to 12 months for reference, after which they are deleted.

You may request deletion of any message you sent us by emailing [email protected].

If you believe a child has sent us personal data through the contact form, please contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete it.

Continuing to use devtools.run after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. If you disagree with any changes, please stop using the site and contact us with any concerns.
